Get to know our “Jill of all trades”, a.k.a, our Greenhouse Technician Lead! Here are a few words from Jill herself…
“I’m Jill Seymour and I come from the beautiful wilds of the Pacific Northwest (I can see Alaska on a clear day!). I was born and raised in Prince Rupert, BC and was thrilled for an opportunity to move back and raise my kidlet.
Prince Rupert is at the end of Highway 16, and is frequently subject to landslides or flooding that block the only road of access. As such, being able to provide for myself has been a high priority for my day to day living. I would love to be able to subscribe to the 100 mile diet - but living in a community that is known for its high rainfall, low sunlight hours and a ban on all hooved animals (due to hoof rot - seriously, it’s wet here) makes it difficult. The closest egg farm is 144 km away (no, I don’t have chickens yet… on my wish list) and I suspect buying meat is that much or farther. So, I love learning about growing here in my community and am quickly learning about growing in greenhouses, domes and other climates.
My favourite thing about my job is that I can see the things I am learning impact my child as well. He recently built a compost in the backyard as an after school project with some friends. I believe wholeheartedly in the interconnectedness of all things and I look forward to learning and growing with Green Iglu.”
Jill is the human behind our education, growing systems, greenhouse building, and so much more. Her love of people, learning, creating, and growing is contagious. You will find Jill supporting you in person, from construction to growing all of your heart’s desires.
