Where to even begin. To speak candidly the time has come for me to move on from Green Iglu.
Green Iglu staff, friends, supporters, advocates, all of you have made my time here the most amazing experience of my life. Life changes and so must we!
Honestly, it still doesn’t feel real. As I have written this letter, it's as though I myself am learning that I am leaving, though it is on my own accord. So many emotions to work through in the weeks and months to come. However, I can say now that I am happy. It is every co-founder’s dream to be able to create something incredible and eventually to leave on good terms, with a bright future ahead for both parties.
The last six months have been anything but normal, however, if I think back over the last seven years, normal was never the status quo.
From 72 hour one way flights eating nothing but surprise airport food; to 200+ days without a day off, boots on the ground, every morning; to living in a laundry closet, just to get away from the midnight sun because there weren’t any curtains; from raising the first $1,000, to our first $1,000,000.
So many hard days. Tears, sweat, aches, pain, frustration.
Then seeing the whole thing work. That first rush of success, after so much, is something I will never forget.
I have learned so much in the last 7 years, things I take with me every day. Lessons, philosophies and mindsets from so many interesting, peculiar, amazing, dedicated, quirky, and brilliant people.
As I move onto new opportunities, it is with a full heart (and full eyes) I say thank you. Thank you all for challenging me, and together questioning what is possible. We created something amazing.
Knowing that I am leaving the mission to a team of diligent, growth-focused, community-oriented individuals, lends me a sense of comfort knowing it is in very capable hands. Green Iglu will continue to grow & thrive.
Green Iglu, you will always have a special place in my heart, mind & soul, for being my raison d'être, the reason I love start-ups, and lastly, the reason I am the man I am today.
