Hi all!

We launched a Planta research and development (R&D) greenhouse in Red Deer, Alberta in Fall 2022. We are excited to share some of the progress with you all here. We also have a blog on our website that covers the progress in more detail, it's linked HERE. The blog also has progress pictures!

We used a Planta Sungrow, which has been able to withstand Alberta's harshest winter days. In November 2022 we seeded a variety of greens, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, beets and garlic. Using Supplemental heating and a small space heater we kept the temperature in the greenhouse warm enough to heat the seedlings for sprouting and we started harvesting as early as December 21st!

From December to March, we harvested about 4kg of produce, the amount will only increase during this summer. We have rearranged the interior and added shelves to create space for additional plants. As the summer progresses our team will keep updating the R&D progress right here. Stay Tuned!

We are also open to suggestions for our R&D Greenhouse, feel free to share what has worked for you and your community.
