Meet Steven Charlesworth, the Business Development Manager of Green Iglu & our friend from the other side of the Atlantic!

Situated on the west coast of Norway, home to the fjords, Steven was fortunate to grow up close to a beautiful natural landscape that has fueled his love of the environment. With an interest in improving food systems for better food security, Steven pursued both a Bachelors and PhD within Plant Sciences.

His research focused on understanding plant genetics and how to leverage this knowledge to improve food security. During his PhD, Steven led a project involving growing food locally.

This gave him the opportunity and privilege of working collaboratively with remote Indigenous communities in Australia experiencing food insecurity. Working beyond the lab environment, this experience opened his eyes to the complexities of food security on a human level.

It was this work and our shared passion for food sovereignty that led Steven to volunteer for Green Iglu in August 2020 and become a full-time team member this year. He’s excited to channel his ambitions and excitement for food sovereignty to make a positive impact with Green Iglu.

We will be welcoming Steven to Canada soon, as he is finally moving here in 2022!
